The Hawaiian Island of Niihau is a privately owned island. This private status has brought on it's nickname of "The Forbidden Island." The island has an entirely Native Hawaiian population of a couple a hundred people. Niihau is off limits for visitors except for a small amount of visits that take helicopter tours to the island from Kauai. These tours go to small uninhabited areas of Niihau and then leave. The joy of these tours it that you get to see a part of Hawaii that almost nobody has ever seen.
