There are eight islands that make up the Hawaiian Island chain. There are four Islands that are well inhabited, Oahu, Maui, Big Island, and Kauai. There are four other Hawaii Islands that are large enough to be islands but are not big enough for facilities like major airports, hotels and restaurants. These islands are Niihau, Molokai, Lanai, and Kahoolawe. The people of Niihau Hawaii avoid tourism directly to their island and has been given the name "the forbidden Island." Kahoolawe island was an old target island and had to be intensely cleaned up. Of these four islands Molokai is the most developed island.
